2021 Lexus of Sutherland Golf Invitational - March

The Lexus of Sutherland Golf Invitational was held with a bleak forecast confronting the guests. Thankfully, the rain didn't start to fall until many of the guests had made their way inside the clubhouse. A record crowd of 129 golfers enjoyed the 18 holes and another 26 joined us for the beginner golf lessons.

In the end, the calm and soft conditions led to some great scores and one of the closest finishes ever with four teams within 0.25 of a shot, including a three ball team who shot an incredible score of 60! Unfortunately for them, that 60 was only good enough for third place when they recorded a nett 53. They started as well as any team ever has at a Lexus event when they were ten under through eleven holes. Eventually that run had to come to an end and they only managed two under for their remaining holes. That said, their score was good enough to come third on a count back. Well played to Nam Jun Joo, Sun Young Hwang & Kee Kim. The runners up were unlucky to miss out on a count back when they had 52.75 as the count back is based on the last nine holes of the course (10-18) and not the last nine each group plays. Because after a slow start with seven straight pars they managed quite a birdie run to finish with 65. Commiserations to Vlade Stojkovski, Thawro Chea, Alan Lau & Joe Wong. The winners never looked in trouble as they played the entire round without a bogey - that coupled with seven birdies and an eagle were enough for the win with nett 52.75. Congratulations to Warwick Williams (11), Luke Geelan (27), Greg Garling (17) & Joel Williams (27).
