2019 Lexus of Brisbane Group Golf Invitational - Friday

The final Lexus of Brisbane Group Golf Invitational was again held at Links Hope Island. 115 golfers played the 18 hole event and conditions were perfect for good scoring. The lowest score the previous two days was ten under par, but with a few more groups on the course, that would certainly be threatened today.

The live scoring devices showed three teams tussling for the lowest score of the day and in the end one team managed to shoot an amazing 59, but would their low handicap get them over the line? It is also worth pointing out that the top four team's scores today, would have won either the Wednesday or Thursday event.

In third place with a nett 54.375 on a count back, was the team of Cameron Turnbull, Mal Bray, John Weaver & Brando Dennis who were off to a hot start when they were seven under par through their first ten holes. Unfortunately that momentum slowed and they only managed another two birdies for the rest of the round and had to settle for third. Just over half a shot ahead in second place were Michael Burgis, Georgina Hamilton, Rick Orr and Sharyn Orr. Their score of 66 was a great achievement with their handicaps and included six birdies and no bogeys on their way to nett 53.75. The winners shot the magic 59 and had two consecutive runs of birdies, with five at one stage and six on another occasion. This fantastic golf meant they beat the rest of the field by over 2 1/2 shots with a nett 51.125. Congratulations to Peter Lowe (6), Scott Vogler (12), Andrew McKenzie (18) & Noel Kendall (27).

The charity event on course raised in excess of $2,470 for Hear & Say. Thank you to all who contributed. We also had the 'smash factor' hole on the 2nd - see below for a collection of shots (including our winners smash factor of 1.54!).

The opportunity for one Lexus owner to attend the Lexus Melbourne Cup was drawn at the end of the day. Congratulations to Lloyd Parsons, who will have the opportunity to play Royal Melbourne Golf Club followed by a day at the races in the Lexus Design Pavilion for the running of the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
