2019 MCRC Charity Golf Day - Nudgee Golf Club
The MCRC Charity Day was moved to Nudgee Golf Club due to renovations of the clubhouse at Pacific Golf Club. The move was well received by all and a record attendance assisted in raising just under $30,000 for less fortunate individuals and institutions.
When it came to the golf, there were some spectacular scores and in the end four teams were within two shots of the winning total. The third placed team started slowly with just two birdies on their first nine holes and then went on to have a birdie blitz, with five birdies in six holes to shoot up the leaderboard. Unfortunately for them, they were unable to get any more birdies and finished with a nett 55 to take third place on a count back. Well done to Marius Ferns, Jaco Van Den Berg, Arno Oosthuizen & Dirk Beukes. The winners and runners up both had identical scores of 60 (11 under par), both with 31 on the front and 29 on the back. However, the birdie, birdie, birdie finish from the winners was enough to get them over the line when handicaps were taken into consideration. The Runners Up with nett 54.125 were representing the major sponsor, Attvest Finance - Johan Steyn, Darren Normand, David Chinn & Glen Butler. That meant, Time Home Loans were left to take out the winners prize with a nett 53.125. Congratulations to Ruan Burger (27), Tony Tully (20), Darren Rix (0) & Etienne Labuschagne (8).
