2018 Melbourne City Lexus Golf Invitational - The Eastern Golf Club

The Melbourne City Lexus Golf Invitational was held at The Eastern Golf Club under absolutely perfect conditions. The course was in beautifully presented, with some of the best greens we have played on all year. Only time would tell if the scoring would reflect the quality of the course.

In one of the closest finishes all year, the difference between the first three placed teams was just 1/2 a shot! In third place with a nett 55.875 were Rob Montgomery, John Hutchieson, Kin Peng Lo and Tim Heath, who had the lowest score of the day with a 64. Their round included seven birdies, an eagle and a bogey, but their low handicap meant they would have to settle for third. The runners up were just 0.125 shots ahead and got off to a hot start when they birdied their first four holes. Unfortunately, they could only muster another two birdies for the remainder of the round. Well done to Simon Hood, Trevor Edwards, John Sutcliffe & Eric Zhang. The winners also shot a fine score of 66, but their higher handicaps meant they finished just ahead with a nett 55.375. They were off to a nice start with five birdies in their first eight holes, but could only manage one under par for the rest of the round. That, however, was enough to take the winner's prize. Congratulations to David Mallett (3), Lyn Mallett (30), John Williams (16) & Nola Williams (36).

Funds were raised on the 17th hole for the Breast Cancer Network Australia and Just Like Jack, both foundations that Melbourne City Lexus Ambassador Shane Crawford has a close association with. Thank you to all those who donated as we raised $1,670. Guests also had their swing videoed on the 14th hole and all the results can be seen below with the shot tracer added to track the flight of the ball. 

Twenty six guests also enjoyed the beginner golf lessons with two local professionals. Congratulations to the following winners:

No one was more excited at the end of the day when Rohan Gent's name was drawn out as the winner of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Experience. Congratulations Rohan - we will see you next week!
